Timeline Jan

A story of work,
strength and enthusiasm

1960 Named G. JAN RAUWERS E FILHO, it was founded on August 29 by Gerrit Jan Hermanus Rauwers, a Dutch immigrant, and operated in general mechanical repairs and the artisanal production of plows.

1970 On July 28, Henricus became a partner in the company, which was then renamed IMPLEMENTOS AGRÍCOLAS JAN LTDA.

1972 The new facilities of Factory I were inaugurated.

1973 The corporate name was changed to IMPLEMENTOS AGRÍCOLAS JAN S/A.

1982 Mr. Henricus took over as CEO. The company adopted a bolder and more dynamic management style—keeping an eye on the future while staying grounded.

1984 Henricus Rietjens’ strong connection to the land led him to invest in a large rural area in Tocantins. Thus, Agropecuária Jan S/A was born, a model farm in the region for cattle breeding and the cultivation of rice, corn, and soybeans.

1986 Jan acquired an area of over 50 hectares in the city of Não-Me-Toque, dedicated to research.

1987 Factory III was inaugurated, focusing on machining and assembling components for JAN’s implement line.

1990 The 1990s marked Jan’s consolidation and expansion in both national and international agribusiness markets. The following years would bring revolutions and smaller transformations, with the development of products for no-till farming, distribution, spraying, and harvesting. This period also saw business diversification in the metallic components sector and the expansion of the industrial park with modern machinery, equipment, and increasingly advanced processes, as well as employee training and appreciation.

1998 With a constant focus on innovation and process improvement, Jan became the first Brazilian agricultural machinery and implements company to achieve ISO 9000 quality certification in 1998, laying the foundation for continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. Equally significant was the recognition through the Top Quality Award for excellence, ethics, human value, and sustainable growth.

2000 These awards continued into the early 2000s, marking a period of prosperity. Jan took another major step: beginning the construction of another unit, reaffirming its commitment to agribusiness and social development through job creation. The company's modernization and innovation solidified its position in competitive markets worldwide.

2007 Jan took a significant step by acquiring the Metalbusch factory, marking its entry into the spraying segment.

2010 The 2010s strengthened Jan’s role in precision agriculture, seeding, soil treatment, crop protection, and no-till farming. With growth came environmental responsibility, implemented through recycling projects, water treatment, and clean energy initiatives.

2020 We celebrated 60 years. "In the early '70s, the founder's dream was for the company to reach 2,400 m². Today, JAN has approximately 1,200 direct employees across four manufacturing units, totaling over 100,000 m² of built area" (Henricus Rietjens).
